Juvenile fish inhabit just about any piece of water from fresh to salt. This is for those times when it's not about a big fly or something gaudy. In the northwest this pattern works well to imitate juvenile salmonids as they out migrate to lakes and the salt. In other drainages you might use this as a shiner/minnow imitation or when fry/smolt are present.
